Think Tank 4.0 Technology for Environment and Social Justice

Technology, Innovation, and Smart Urbanism expert Melike Akkaya from Istanbul Planning Agency's Vision 2050 Office attended the Think Tank 4.0: Technology & Entrepreneurship for Environmental and Social Justice online event as a speaker. The event organized by Viveka Incubation Center and technology companies (startups), local governments, NGOs, private companies, and public institutions talk about the effects of future technologies on sustainability, environment, and social justice. In the event, questions such as what startups can do for the environment and social justice, what should be the role of local governments and public institutions, what do the private companies do for technologies that will provide environmental and social justice, and how NGOs define the needs in this field, and how do they increase awareness, were sought. First, Istanbul Planning Agency and Vision 2050 Office were introduced, its process, conducted studies, and projects were mentioned. Then, contributions were made to the event by evaluating the scope and the importance of the concept of environmental justice from the perspectives of circularity, zero waste, renewable energy, and participation.
