Over the past decade, three trends in the employment structure of Istanbul have been becoming significant: the rate of industrial employment is decreasing; the rate of female employment is increasing; and the employment structure is relatively getting older with the permanence of youth unemployment. In this study, demographic, workplace-based and spatial analysis of the labor structure and employment trends will be examined. Along with the employment structure, the structure of income distribution in the city, its spatial distribution and the effect of changing employment dynamics on income distribution will also be investigated. This study is going to identify problems concerning employment and income distribution, make these problems visible and develop policies and strategies for solutions within the framework of a fairer Istanbul principle.
